What is this study about?
Through the Looking Glass (TLG) is a disability community-based non-profit which has been providing adaptive parenting services for parents and caregivers with physical and vision disabilities for more than 30 years. This study will evaluate and refine the use of an intervention manual, outcome measures, and research processes to be used in a larger study. The long-term goal is to increase OT-based parenting adaptation services, improving supports for parents and caregivers with disabilities.
What do I have to do to participate?
- Take part in an “intervention,” which involves at least 8 sessions with an OT to help you reach your self-identified goals and priorities for physical caregiving tasks of your child(ren) ages 3 and younger
- Complete a set of questionnaires before and after you finish your OT sessions
Why should I take part?
- Receive free, individualized services and adapted equipment to help with caregiving tasks
- Help us improve our services and identify measures for future research
Who can take part?
You may be eligible for this study if you:
- Live in the San Francisco Bay Area
- Are a pregnant/expectant parent or parent/caregiver of a child 3 years and under
- Have a physical disability, vision disability, or chronic health condition
- Have not previously received adapted parenting services from TLG
