Sherrie Hansen, Ph.D., is the Clinical Director at TLG, guiding infant mental health and early intervention services with families in which children or parents have disabilities or medical issues and has provided supervision and unique training for psychology and mental health staff, interns, and trainees. She also specializes in intervention for parents with cognitive or intellectual disabilities and their children. She co-developed and led a long-term therapy/support group for mothers with intellectual disabilities. On the basis of this work, she co-developed Strategies & Adaptations in Working with Parents with Intellectual Disabilities and Training Module: Designing Support Groups for Parents with Intellectual Disabilities (included in the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare). She has conducted national, international, and regional trainings for professionals working with parents with cognitive disabilities including a national webinar for child welfare systems. She has been key in research developing and demonstrating the effectiveness of Video Intervention Therapy for parents with intellectual disabilities and in training professionals in video intervention. She is a parent of an adult child with a disability.
