Masters Practicum Training Program at Through the Looking Glass

TLG offers practicum training for students in a graduate program in Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Social Work, Counseling Psychology, and other comparable programs.

Training overview 

Masters’ level practicum trainees in Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Social Work, Counseling Psychology, and other comparable programs are provided opportunities to learn and practice home-based infant-parent psychotherapy and pregnancy counseling with infants, toddlers, pregnant parents and their families.  

Trainees are also provided the opportunity to learn and practice developmental assessment of infants and toddlers in all developmental domains.  Trainees learn to plan and provide play interventions that support development and strengthen attachment with children who are typically developing and their parents, as well as with children and parents who have physically and neurologically diverse ways of functioning. Developmental findings and interventions are carefully integrated into the work of family therapy.  

Training and compensation 

Clinical individual and group supervision is provided , according to California Board of Behavioral Sciences regulations. Trainees also attend weekly didactic training sessions on a variety of topics related to the treatment of young children and their families. Practicum trainees are paid, and benefits are offered to trainees who work 30 hours per week or more. Through the Looking Glass provides remote services as needed according to public health guidelines during pandemic conditions. Supervision 

Clinical supervision is also provided to Masters level graduates who are accruing hours toward licensure.
