Jei E. Watkins, Psy.D., is experienced in both child development and children’s mental health, is part of TLG’s team of mental health consultants to Oakland Early Head Start and Head Start centers. In addition to work with young children, she specializes in working with adolescents, using the trauma-informed, evidence-based Attachment, Regulation, and Competence (ARC) therapeutic model to capitalize on adolescents’ resilience and foster positive intra- and interpersonal relationships, life skills, academic achievement, and overall well-being. She currently provides training and coordinates our work with youth with disabilities transitioning from foster care. She also is on the faculty of the Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Certificate Program at Cal State University, East Bay. A member of the Association of Black Psychologists, she focuses on multi-cultural competence and issues of privilege, e.g., as they relate to race, gender, disability. She is the mother of 2 teenage boys.
